What's happening for families near you — and who else is going.

Nidoro is a neighbourhood platform for family life: local activities, the crèche or school your child attends, and the parents who live nearby. We are building it now, in the Lausanne region.

Free for parents. We'll let you know when Nidoro opens in your neighbourhood.

The lake path in Lausanne, with adults and a pram.

Your family is far away. So is everyone else's.

We move for work, we raise children in cities we did not grow up in, and grandparents are no longer a street away. Most parents today are building a family without the network that used to come with it — and building a new one is harder than it looks.

A playground where adults stand apart from one another, each watching their own child.
  • At the playground

You are there, but you are on duty. Your attention belongs to a two-year-old on a climbing frame, not to the parent standing three metres away.

  • At drop-off

Ninety seconds, a coat, a goodbye, and someone is already late. Nobody starts a friendship there.

None of this is dramatic. It is how the week goes — long weekends, not much adult conversation, and the people who would make it easier standing three metres away.

Built around your neighbourhood, not a feed.

Nidoro is not a social network and not a parenting advice site. It works at the scale of a neighbourhood, not a canton — which is the point, and why we are building it one neighbourhood at a time, starting in the Lausanne region.

An illustrated neighbourhood map with soft shapes and a few activity markers.
  • The easiest way in

A Saturday morning at the playground, a stroller walk along the lake, an indoor brunch when it rains in November. Turning up to something is easier than writing to a stranger.

  • Your crèche, in the same place

We are building Nidoro so crèches, garderies and schools can publish announcements and events alongside everything else — one calendar instead of paper notices and three chat groups.

Bring Nidoro to your neighbourhood

We will open neighbourhood by neighbourhood, wherever enough parents sign up. Your postcode is what counts.

Your children's ages (optional)Age ranges only — we never ask for names or birth dates.

Languages you speak

We may invite a small number of parents in your area before Nidoro opens. No obligation, and you can say no at the time.

  • Verified accounts

Every parent confirms their email address before joining. Every crèche, garderie or school is verified by us before it can post.

  • Both must agree

Nobody can contact you unless both of you allow it.

  • Your connection setting

By default, mothers connect with mothers and fathers with fathers. You can open your setting to parents of any gender. It is your setting and nobody else's.

We use your email address for Nidoro launch updates and nothing else. We never sell it or pass it on.

We delete waitlist entries after 24 months if we have not opened in your area.

Why we are building this

We are two parents who moved to Lausanne from far away, with a daughter who is now two and a half. Our families still live in our home countries, and most of our friends are at a different stage of life.

We learnt quickly how isolating that combination is — and how absurd the isolation feels, because the other parents are right there. At the playground, everyone is watching their children. On the school run, everyone is rushing. The natural moment to talk never comes.

Nidoro — from nido, nest — is the tool we wished we had: a community of parents nearby who share our interests and our stage of life, doing things together and letting our children grow up together. It takes a village to raise a child. For families like ours, the village is no longer a given. So we are building one.

How it will work

  1. An arch, like the doorway into a neighbourhood.

    Join your neighbourhood

Sign up with your postcode. Your community is the area you actually live and walk in.

  2. Chips showing languages and child age ranges.

    Tell us what matters

The languages you speak, your children's age ranges, your interests. Age ranges only — never names or birth dates.

  3. A map marker and a calendar.

See what's happening, and who's nearby

Local activities and events, and the parents around you — narrowed to your neighbourhood, your language and your children's ages, with the parents who share your interests first. Living nearby is not the same as having something in common, which is why the list is short rather than complete.

  4. Two adults with prams walking toward each other on a path.

    Turn up, then connect

Turning up to something is the easiest first step — an activity, a stroller walk, your crèche's open morning. To stay in touch afterwards you send a connection request, and only once it is accepted can the two of you message each other. Then it's a coffee, a playground, a shared school run.

Safety is a feature, not small print.

These rules are fixed before the platform opens, and they will not quietly change.

  • Report and block, everywhere

Available on every profile, every event, every post.

  • No photographs of children

Age ranges only. No names, no photos, no birth dates.

  • Your neighbourhood, not your address

Your location appears at neighbourhood level only. Your address is never on the platform.

  • Swiss and EU data protection

Built to Swiss (nLPD) and EU (GDPR) requirements from day one.

  • Hosted in Switzerland

Your data is stored in Switzerland.

Everything on Nidoro is about family life in your neighbourhood — places, activities, school runs — and nothing else.

Frequently asked questions

  • When does Nidoro open, and where?

There is no fixed date yet. We open neighbourhood by neighbourhood in the Lausanne region, starting where enough parents have signed up. Joining the waitlist with your postcode is what moves your area forward.

  • Is it free?

Nidoro is free for parents at launch, and free for institutions during the launch phase. There is no advertising in the early product.

  • What happens to my data?

The waitlist stores your first name, email, country, postcode, commune, languages, optional child age ranges, and whether you are willing to try an early version — nothing else. We use it to plan the launch and send you updates, we never sell or pass it on, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

  • How does Nidoro work for fathers?

Exactly as it does for mothers. By default fathers connect with fathers and mothers with mothers, and any parent can open their own setting to parents of any gender. Activities are family-inclusive, so turning up to something on a Saturday morning is the same first step either way.

  • How is this different from a Facebook group?

A city-wide group mixes everyone into one noisy feed and cannot tell you who lives near you. Nidoro is organised around your neighbourhood, filters by language and child age, and verifies institutions.

  • I represent a crèche or a school — what should I do?

Everything for institutions is on its own page, including a short contact form. We will get in touch personally; there is no commitment on your side.

One roster, one calendar, one announcement channel — for crèches, garderies, UAPE and schools.
